Hi,
My major need for UPS is for Computers (2-3 computers with LCD Monitors). As I live in a rented house I cannot make any new electrical modifications here.
So I’ve asked for standalone Microtek UPS (Pure sine wave 850va-900va)with Exide Invatubular battery (150ah). Almost all the dealers are in the range of 18,000 to 21,000.
I’ve inquired APC dealer. He suggested a APC 850VA pure sinewave UPS with Tubular battery for around 13,500 – 17,000 (varies for batteries). 2 years onsite warranty within city limits. He claims that 80ah – 100ah battery gives me more than 4hrs of backup if i use a single computer.
Some of the dealers also told me that microtek ups have some problem. I don’t know whether it is real or they are just saying to push some other model.
Please suggest me to pick the best.
I’m not quite convinced with this. What is your take on APC UPS & Batteries? Is there any catch?
Also I need backup of at least 3-4 hrs.
Dear Admin,
First of all, thank you for all the help….
I think there is something wrong with my battery IT500
please tell me the backup in most practical situations of my Brand new IT500 fully charged on Brand new Sukam 850 VA
Load=
Normal Computer(No card) + 19″ LCD ~120 Watt (Watt Suggested by you)
3 celing fan ~ 80×3 Watt ( Again suggested by you )
5 22 Watt CFL ~ 110 Watt
Total ~ 470 or 500 Watt at max
(Sorry for posting my question in wrong section as i’m unable to see this reply section in any other post)
Dear Hitesh,
On full load of 470 watts, your Exide IT500 150 AH battery is supposed to give 3.5 hours backup.
Check your back up time on full load and get back to us.
Thank you
Dear Hitesh,
Hope this post would help you calculate the back up time
https://upsinverterinfo.com/how-to-calculate-your-upsinverter-battery-back-up-time.html
Dear Admin,
I just tested backup of my New IT500 with sukam 850VA, as told by you
Load-
Normal Computer(No card) + 19″ LCD ~120 Watt (Watt Suggested by you)
3 celing fan ~ 80×3 Watt ( Again suggested by you )
3 22 Watt CFL ~ 66 Watt
1 40 Watt tube
Total ~ 466 Watt or 470 Watt
Backup Time- It was less than 1hr 20 Minutes which is less than half expected by you, then the red light with a buzzer started of low battery, I switch off (1tube+2 CFL) Giving off 84 watt of load, inverter went stable again but after 10 minutes again beep, switched off another CFL, again 10 minutes ……then i stopped trying ….
What is this, is this normal, please suggest me whatever solution possible.
Dear Hitesh,
Some thing went wrong, immediately call your battery dealer to inspect the battery backup.
Everything is always wrong with me 😀
Everyone says here that the replacement service of Exide battery is pathetic here and take around 15 days 🙁
He warned me that i’m a wholesale Dealer and if anything went wrong. You have to come over here and i will replace the battery, now what i have to do is take this gigantic battery and then wait for 15 days and then Oh god…
Buying this is my Horrible dream so far
Dear sir what is the difference between square wave & shine wave inverter & which is the best for fast charging with low voltage. at my location there is 2 company is available amron 875Va(shine wave) & luminus 850va (shine vave) pls tel me which is the best and any model number suggest for 850va
Dear awadhesh,
Read this post to know the advantages of sinewave inverter.
https://upsinverterinfo.com/advantages-of-sine-wave-inverter-8-points-to-consider.html
We recommend Luminous “UPS Sine 800 VA” inverter for you.
Dear Hitesh,
I am sorry that you are unlucky again. 🙁
Please call any technician and check the battery before you take it to the dealer. Some small issues may also cause low back up problem.
Sir,
Today i registered by IT500, locked a complain, and then contacted dealer, He said “As per company guidelines a standard 400 Watt load will enjoy a 2-2.5 hrs of Backup, also maybe your inverter is not charging it to its full capacity, inverters cut off V is 14 V app, charge your battery with external charger” When i asked how can i have that charger” He further quoted ” forget charger bring it back to me, it will take 3-4 of rigorous testing and then we will replace”
He further added that ” its a 36 Month warranty so no need to panic, just use it if you are comfortable with it and bring it to us only if its unbearable”
I decided to go for that replacement thing after an year or so and till then i am continuing with this battery and as far as calling the technician is concerned,i will call guy from Sukam to test the charging or whatever of inverter and checking and i will convince him to check the battery too 😀 ..he is not going to charge me anyway. Ahhhh….
Dear Hitesh,
Ask a technician to test the specific gravity of battery cells, i hope a ‘bench charge’ would help you get the full potential of your battery.
Ask your battery dealer for ‘bench charge’.
pls provide iofo regarding amaron fully tubular crtt-150 tall battery and its retail and wholesale price.i need full information of this battery and how does it fair against exide it 500 tubular battery.
finally bought amaron tall tubular crtt 150 ah battery for my luminous 800 va sine wave inverter.had to settle for amaron because it is a far better product compared to exide which is known for its brand name. came across a lot of guys who have had problems with their exide IT500 tubular batteries and had to go for replacements. even though they got a new battery in replacement under warranty.
thats why i choose to go for a better product after all who would like to get dragged.
I am using a 1400 VA Xenon invertor with 2×140 AH Amaron ordinary batteries bought in Jun 2010. It is now 2 years 5 months. Cycle time has fallen from 4 hours on 1000 VA load to 1-2 hours now, life is ending ! I want to go in for a 180 AH or atleast 150 AH tall tubular battery so that I get atleast 4 hours during the last quarter ….I am told by a dealer that 1400 VA invertor can not charge 2x 180 AH batteries! Can you kindly enlighten me ? Thanks S Rangarajan srangarajan49@gmail.com;+919840015710
Dear Rangarajan,
Don’t go for 180 ah battery, it needs more time to be fully charged. A 180 ah battery is capable of accepting 18amp current, but a 1400 va inverter will only supply 10amp current to each battery, so it needs some extra hours to attain full charge.
If you only suffer 5 to 6 hours power cut per day, you can go for 180 ah batteries with 1400 va inverter. If you face more hours of power shedding per day, you better go for 150 ah battery.
dear admin
i want the difference between amaron and powerzone inverter batteries…..both are products of amararaja….why they are manufacturing diffrently…is there any difference in efficiency or anything else between them,?
Sir,
Please give some info about Okaya batteries, they have tubular models with less price. Sooraj
Dear Sooraj,
Thanks for reminding us. Will post some reviews and price details about okaya batteries very soon.
I have luminous inverter(non sinewave) 800VA with exide battery(3.5 years) that is getting old and needs to be replaced.
Please recommend based on my load :
Load : 2 – cfl(30watt), 1 – 32 inch LED tv, 1 – fan, 1 – cooler(300 watt).
Should I continue with my square wave inverter and just replace with a battery and this will be suffecient as per my load for giving backup of 4 – 5 hours or I would need to replace the inverter with 1500 va sine wave one and clubb it to two batteries.
Please recommend best solution/combination that I can opt from Amaron(I have one family member working there).
Thanks.
Dear Akhan,
WE recommend
New Exide Inverter 1450 va pure sine wave (not exide ceil) with LCD display
+
Two Amaron Tall tubular 150 ah CRTT 150 batteries
This configuration gives you best performance and prolonged life.
