Answer
Dear Mrs.Premlatha,
For Home inverter, Microtek, Sukam and Luminous are best selling brands and has very wide service network. Choose only Pure Sine Wave inverter from any one of this three top brands.
We recommend Microtek UPS EBz 850 VA pure sine wave inverter for you, it’s a classic model from Microtek.
Semi tubular batteries are modified form of automobile batteries, actually automobile batteries are not suitable for inverter applications, they might get damaged if discharged deeply. Semi tubular batteries are deep cycle batteries and will not get damaged if discharged deeply.
Semi tubular would last long for 3 + years and Pure Tubular Batteries would last long for 5 + years, that’s the simple difference.
Tubular batteries are more reliable than semi tubular.

I have a 250 watt single phase induction clutch motor for an industrial sewing machine. For that load, I bought the Mahindra Powerol Hi Speed (pure sine wave)inverter and Exide Inva IT500 150 AH battery. Since the inverter capacity was more than 3 times the motor’s rated output, I assumed it would easily suffice. Upon installation I find, if the motor is already running on mains, it will continue running if the electricity suddenly goes off. However, the moment the tailor steps on the clutch that engages the motor, the motor stops and will not run unless the mains return. What is the problem?
Dear Tim,
starting the motor needs triple power than its specified rating, this is the problem. You should upgrade your inverter to solve the problem.
Actually VA is not equal to Watts, so many people say 600 va inverter as 600 watts inverter which is absolutely wrong. A 600 va inverter can handle load up to 350 to 400 watts only.
You didn’t mention your inverter VA Rating.
Thanks for the prompt reply.
My inverter is 800 VA.
Under “induction motors” Wikipedia says, “Maximum current happens under locked rotor current (LRC) conditions and is somewhat less than (formula), with LRC typically ranging between 6 and 7 times rated current for standard Design B motors.
So what I need to know with assurance is, for the load mentioned, what VA rating do I require in my inverter?
Dear Tim,
For 250 watts motor, 850 VA inverter is sufficient, We recommend MIcrotek Pure sine wave 850 VA inverter model ‘UPS sebZ 850’. Try this model.
